Placement Date: March 2021
Job Before: Logistics Administrator
Job Now: IT Support Engineer @ Tri Computers

Why did you start the Traineeship?

I started the traineeship with IT career switch because i was nade redundant from my previous job and needed to get better qualified and i chose IT because its a solid industry that has seen growth while other industries are failing.

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

What I’ve enjoyed most is learning the technical aspects to computers. The things that run in the background that most users arent aware of. Learning to fix things and get them working again when previously i would have had to have bought a new computer or send it in for repairs.

What's your current role like?

In my new role I get to get out of the office and visit customers on a daily basis and help them with their computer issues. Its really rewarding when you’re faced with a new issue that you’ve never seen before and have been able to accept the challenge and find a solution for it.

Course: IT Technician Traineeship
Placement Date: February 2021
Job Before: General Manager
Job Now: Service Desk Analyst @ Go-Ahead

Why did you start the Traineeship?

I started the Traineeship after being a General Manager for 5 years in the hospitality industry. I always held a keen interest and passion for the IT industry, taking on jobs – big or small, to gain invaluable hands on experience within the industry. Whilst doing so, I realised I wanted to take the skills I had learnt and use them to gain an official certification, in order to provide myself with an enjoyable career path.

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

The most enjoyable part, for me, had to be the live labs. Being a kinaesthetic learner I really benefitted from being involved in the interactive learning space. It provides you with the chance to work through different scenarios you may come across in the future, with clear instructions if required, where mistakes can be made and not destroy systems in place. The team who I spoke with made me feel at ease and were very supportive throughout my learning journey and went the extra mile to help me in any way they could, this was highly appreciated especially through the national lockdown.

What's your current role like?

I now, currently work as a 1st Line Service Desk Analyst for Go-Ahead, and I love it. It is an worldwide company that thrives itself in the innovation of technology, covering travel globally via buses/trains and more. I never have the same day twice consistently dealing with new people and problems being the first point of contact for anything IT related. My job role can vary from dealing with problems big and small, from an employee count of over 33,000 all trying to achieve the same goal working together. The job offers amazing personal progression and I am challenged everyday to continue to do my very best to achieve more.

Course: Cyber Security Traineeship
Placement Date: February 2021
Job Before: Change Manager
Current role: Service Desk Analyst @ Eloquent Technologies LTD

Why did you start the Traineeship?

I was made redundant in September, and I quickly decided to look for a route into IT. What Careerswitch offered was perfect for my needs. The job guarantee really helped take the pressure off that particular aspect, allowing me to concentrate on the course material, which was easily digestible, despite being so broad.

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

I always like to see how the theory can be applied in a practice, so my favourite parts of the traineeship were hearing about real life examples, being taught by professionals with many years of experience behind them.

What's your current role like?

My current role is very enjoyable. Everyone is incredibly supportive and there is a great team spirit. There is also a real focus on broadening people’s knowledge, and helping them to fulfill their long-term goals. I couldn’t be more pleased!
