Jamie-Rao

Course:  Health And Safety Traineeship
Placement Date: July 2022

Why did you start the Traineeship?
During the pandemic, I had some time to reflect on my life choices and decided to make a big decision, which was to leave my previous job to enhance my way of life in a positive way. It was a tough decision, but I felt I had more to offer to society in general. I wanted to make a difference by helping others in my future line of work. I then began my search for a new career, I had looked at many fields of work before my career break such as the health sector, leisure, programming etc. After a good browse, I found what I was looking for: a career in health and safety. This line of work stood out to me and ticked all the boxes. Getting involved in the health and safety industry is more than just a job, it can help save lives and reduce the likelihood of adversities in the day-to-day activities of workers and the general public.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I loved the fact that this Traineeship allowed me to work in a flexible way. I could log on when I wanted and the course was easy to navigate.
What's your current role like?
I am currently working on housing projects, where we are making sure all of our sites are fire safety compliant. No two days are the same in this role. We also make sure every site is equipped with its safety needs such as PPE, first aid etc.
