Job Before: Night Porter

Course: IT Technician Traineeship
Placement Date: January 2022
Placement Date: January 2022
Why did you start the Traineeship?
I have been stuck in dead-end jobs for 20 years and had tried numerous times to get a role in IT. I kept getting knocked back due to a lack of experience. While the cost of the traineeship was off-putting at first I decided that with the job placement money-back guarantee the cost was largely negated as if on conclusion of the traineeship I was unsuccessful in gaining a career in IT I would have lost nothing.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
The most enjoyable part if the traineeship for me was probably the practice labs (when they were working without any hitches) for A+ certification, as I enjoy being more hands-on. The video training could be rather dry in places making them difficult to keep watching at times.
What's your current role like?
My current role as a field network engineer mainly consists of mounting and installing Cisco Meraki devices. It is good fun but some of the work can be very hard with quite a bit of time spent up ladders either mounting access points or patching in new network hardware in cabinets that can sometimes be quite high on walls.
