Why did you start the Traineeship?
I had felt trapped working as an excavator driver/labourer for over 10 years to provide a good financial living for my family. This was never my wish as I studied IT for years without job application success due to lack of experience or a full university degree. Was recommended an IT Career Switch through an agency and decided to give it a go.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I found it beneficial that I was able to spread my traineeship over 12 months and work on it in my time after work and at weekends. The fact that the entire course was videos broken down into different topics and certifications helped this greatly.
What's your current role like?
I’m working as an IT Support Engineer for Wellington IT in Belfast and my buddy got training there and also did the exact same course I did with the IT Career Switch. I deal with calls from Credit Unions across Ireland with tech support issues and work with experienced personnel in the organisation. The role has been a complete change for me in lifestyle with the freedom to work from home and overall really enjoying it.
