Why did you start the Traineeship?
After graduating from university with a degree in computer science, it was very tough to find a job in the career field I wanted. I was keen on getting into a cyber security role, but after a long time of applying and talking to people in the field, I realised that to make myself stand out to employers I would need other qualifications. In my research, I came across IT Career Switch and I was captivated by what the Traineeship had to offer and felt that it would help me move into the cybersecurity field.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I thoroughly enjoyed learning all the courses. Before starting I didn’t feel that I was in a strong enough position to thrive in an IT Support role; through learning and studying, I had prepared myself thoroughly. This gave me pride in my abilities and allowed me to do interviews confidently. It has helped as I am now in an IT Support role that I love.
What's your current role like?
I am working as an IT Support Engineer at NTT Ltd where I am based as on-site support for one of their clients. The role is challenging but still very enjoyable, I am learning something new every day and the knowledge I gained from the Traineeship has come in very handy. On top of that, I have enough time in my work schedule to continue studying my cybersecurity courses.
