Jamie-Rao

Course:  IT Technician Traineeship
Placement Date: November 2022

Why did you start the Traineeship?
I used to work as an HGV driver and freelance programmer in parallel. However, my true passion has always been IT, especially Cybersecurity but I had no real knowledge in this field except the security I provide in the apps/websites that I developed. Then I start to search for free courses on youtube or specialized courses in this matter and I found loads of them. After a few days of comparing them, I realized the IT Career Switch is the way to go regarding the balance of “quality/path/price/branding/certificate”. Another important thing in my decision was “the job guarantee program.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

Till now, I enjoyed most of the CompTIA A+ courses (except ITIL – too autocratic for my taste but welcome to know if you plan to stay in the industry for a long time. You have to deal with agreements you cannot escape). But right now Linux + and most important Pentesting+ of course.

What's your current role like?
Due to my past experience plus the gaps I filled with the IT Career Switch course, I managed to skip the part where I work as an IT Support / Technician and jump straight into Bug Bounty tasks. All I do is find vulnerabilities (Business Logic, Information Disclosure etc) in clients’ apps and report them for the bounty.
