Why did you start the Traineeship?
I started the Traineeship because I needed to try something new. I have always been fascinated by technology and wanted to learn some new skills so that I could potentially change careers and become a Software Engineer. The traineeship made this possible by teaching me a range of tech skills to start a new role as a Developer.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
My favourite part of the traineeship was building projects for my portfolio. I managed to complete 2 fully-functional web applications using both front and backend technologies. The sense of satisfaction I got from independently developing these applications was very rewarding and helped to build my confidence and made me realise that I can do this.
What's your current role like?
I work as an Academy Software Engineer for an amazing company called Made Tech. I joined the academy along with other junior developers where we are all taking part in a 12-week programme to get us ready for work at the company. Not only have I improved my tech skills but since starting my new role I have learned so many new and interesting soft skills too. I’m so happy to be finally doing something that I love and I feel like I’m growing every day.
