Why did you start the Traineeship?
I was an outdoor instructor for most of my life After 13 years of training, developing and honing my expertise I one day decided I wanted to be an HGV driver. After about 6 months I was struggling to come to terms with the lack of development, career progression and care offered in the transport industry. I wanted to get back to being proud of my work life. I have always had a passion for tech and thought quite highly of the career progression offered in the IT industry.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I found the knowledge checks to be very nice. Being constantly quizzed via practice exams is a great way to motivate knowledge retention.

What's your current role like?
My current role is great! I am working as a systems engineer for a cloud computing company. I find myself coming across many different service issues and am allowed the time to dig into each one to find a cause and solution. I feel like I am gaining valuable experience using different platforms. I have already gained certification from a disaster recovery platform. I have great people surrounding me and offering help and advice when needed (which is quite a lot). Every day is a school day, and long may it continue.
