Jamie-Rao

Course: IT Technician Traineeship
Placement Date: October 2021

Why did you start the Traineeship?
I was at a crossroads career wise. Having been a TEFL teacher for most of my 20s, then worked as an event technology project manager for most of my 30s, I wanted to refocus and challenge myself to grow. I chose the Traineeship because it seemed like an ideal, cost effective way to learn a lot in a short space of time and get myself hired in a new role.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I liked the Networking + course the best, mainly because the subject interested me more and the trainer was more engaging than most of the others. I also liked the Live Labs as they gave me the opportunity to practice hands-on.
What's your current role like?
Currently, I work on the 1st Line team in a busy NOC (Network Operations Centre). I work directly with customers and am challenged every day to learn a little bit more about the world of networking. Each ticket is a lesson and there are many knowledgeable colleagues to help me out. It’s a new world for me.
