Paula Maranhão's journey

Why did you start the traineeship?

I had previously worked as a barista. The long hours standing and the low pay were not sustainable in the long term anymore for me. I’ve always been an enthusiast of all things tech-related and have taken several short courses in the area as a hobby. When I found out about the traineeship I thought it was the opportunity I needed to start a new profession.

What did you enjoy most?

The live labs were definitely the best part of the training. It was an amazing platform to put into practice all the theories I had learned in the courses.

What's your current role like?

I work for a company in the construction industry, where the IT department do the support for the head office and 6 other sites. After receiving an issue through the ticketing system or phone I do some basic troubleshooting either in person or remotely. I also do provisioning of devices for new starters, setting up of desks, accounts creation, induction, decommissioning of leavers, asset management, morning checks of meeting rooms and site visits.
