Why did you start the traineeship?

I was looking to change my career path and software development was something that was very interesting to me. I found the IT Career Switch was a course that could bring me up to speed in the field and help me find employment. The traineeship also has the benefit of having a tutor with whom you can speak if you run into any problems or seek further clarification.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed the challenge and the ability to learn on my own terms. It was enjoyable to spend extra time and gain more knowledge on specific topics. I also enjoyed the ability to build two projects which helped to tie everything together. Having done these I felt I was much better prepared to face a real-world coding challenge.

What's your current role like?

I am currently employed as a software developer for Cairn Solutions. My duties include maintaining existing code, adding features requested by our clients, and building new applications. We work with a wide range of frameworks and databases. It is a very exciting position for a new developer in a team that is supportive and engaging.
