Why did you start the traineeship?
The reason I started my traineeship was due to my long-stemmed passion for IT. I was originally going to go to university and study law before seeing an advert from IT Career Switch during my gap year. This peaked my interest and saw me researching cybersecurity. When I saw that this was something I could study for using IT Career Switch I decided to change my plans and make a start on working my way into cybersecurity.
What did you enjoy most?
I think the thing I most enjoyed about my traineeship was the level of support I received during and after my course. After I completed my course I knew that they were to help me find work but didn’t really think it would result in as much attention from employers as I did end up getting. They clearly have a huge network of potential employers because, within the first week of the 12-week recruitment plan, I got 3/4 calls from different companies with job opportunities. So I would have to say the support during and after your course was brilliant.
What's your current role like?
So I currently work as a software analyst in the UK field which is within the 15-mile guarantee that they offer of your home. It’s definitely different to my previous job having been in retail and very casual this is certainly much more corporate. As I’ve said though it is the IT sector I want to work in so serves me well in building up my IT knowledge.
