Why did you start the traineeship?
After spending many years working in a call center, I knew I wanted to take my career in a new direction and broaden my horizons. I’d always had a natural eye for spotting hazards in the workplace, and that interest inspired me to pursue a Traineeship with IT Career Switch – where I was excited to be building a new path with the security of a guaranteed role at the end.
What did you enjoy most?
One of the best parts of this Traineeship is that you can study at your own pace, with no added pressure. The tutor team has been fantastic – friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. I was also supported by my recruitment mentor, Sarah-Jane, who guided me through the recruitment process, from polishing my CV to preparing for interviews, which proved invaluable when it came to securing opportunities.
What's your current role like?
No two days are ever the same, and each one brings a new challenge. I’ve been able to put into practice what I’ve learned while continuing to pick up new skills every day. My role involves carrying out risk assessments and handling health and safety tasks on a daily basis. The team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive – always happy to help whenever I have a question.
