Marina Garcia Guarddon's journey

Why did you start the traineeship?

I started this Traineeship because I didn’t enjoy my job in teaching secondary maths and really needed a career change, because working in a shop was only transitional and not fully inspiring me for the long term.

What did you enjoy most?

I really enjoyed studying the modules online in my own space. I think they were very well created and put together, and working on the final risk assessment exam was a very practical and creative task, which I enjoyed. Last but not least, working with Kati as my recruitment mentor, I enjoyed the weekly communication via phone and e-mail; her encouragement, support, practical guidance, and empathy helped me immensely along the process, especially regarding interviews and getting the confidence I needed.

What's your current role like?

I’m currently working part-time as a Corporate Health and Safety Assistant for Hampshire council, and I absolutely love it! I am indeed very grateful to them for this amazing career opportunity and to IT career switch for being the bridge platform to make this possible.
