Why did you start the Cyber Security Traineeship?

I started the Traineeship after being made redundant from my job. I really wanted to get into the IT sector, but didn’t know where to start. I came across IT Career Switch online and made the decision to go for it as I knew it would help me get a job in IT.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed the fact that it was online learning and that I could go at my own pace, and knew I had a tutor to ask for help when needed. I also liked how in-depth the courses were and how they covered everything I needed for the exams.

What's your current role like?

My current role so far is going well, I’m learning the systems and infrastructure as I go along and have also been to some of the sites we support, including a data centre. There are 2 sides to the role, which include the main system called Fuse Metrix, which is used across all 7 sites and then general IT. The sites put in IT tickets for things they need, issues they are having, etc., and I’m learning how to respond to these. I like that it’s varied, and I have been able to understand things in this role which I learnt in the Traineeship. There’s still lots to learn, and I’m really happy that I trusted the process and made the decision to go for it with IT Career Switch.
