Kyle Ellison's journey
Why did you start the traineeship?
I had worked in various roles since leaving University and decided I wanted to get into development. I looked at a few options and IT Career Switch seemed to provide the best value for money along with a clearly outlined progression through the course. The traineeship really seemed the best way to take that next step for me.
What did you enjoy most?
I particularly enjoyed the two practical projects. It was great to get hands on experience with real world projects that gave a taste of working in a professional setting. Overall, it was a great experience and all the help from my tutors was greatly appreciated.
What's your current role like?
I really enjoy my role. Day to day I’m fixing bugs within our code bases and assisting senior developers on various projects. I feel like a valued part of the team and I have quickly settled in and been able to make contributions. I’m taking everything I learned in the traineeship and applying it in a real world setting. As an added bonus, I work remotely and have a 4 day work week which is great!
