Why did you start the traineeship?
I started the Cyber Security Traineeship because I was feeling no career progression or job satisfaction after 20 years as a maintenance engineer. I needed a fresh challenge and I took the plunge, and made a hobby start working for me, and me for it.
What did you enjoy most?
When you study hard, you get a lot out of it, and it stays with you. I enjoyed the little wins and the big ones too, because I knew I could still use my brain at my age after all!
What's your current role like?
My current role is as the Tier 1 Help Desk Administrator for a small but very capable IT support team. I’m learning so much on a daily basis, but this is expertise in the making. Doing this work every day is invaluable for making this job a career. I’m challenged, but I’m capable and I’m here for it.
