Joshua Temprell moved into HSEQ Coordinator

I never really knew what I wanted to do for a long time, I had an interest in health and safety, but never believed I could do it or where to start. My family grew more with the addition of my son in 2022, I had a daughter already in 2010. I looked at my life, and whilst it wasn’t bad, I wanted more for myself and my family. I wanted to show them that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. So now I knew I was going for it, but where to start? I knew I could apply anywhere to do the courses needed, but how was I going to get the job? How was my CV even going to stand out for said job? I got quite down about this bit, then stumbled across the Health and Safety Traineeship. I was at first in disbelief, surely it can’t deliver all this, I was very much a sceptic. However, I started, and I struggled at times, but support was there to keep me on track all the way. Got to the end, and have to say Barry, who I had as a recruitment advisor, was purely amazing! I think a job, a CV and a qualification in a package, plus a LinkedIn profile review, was honestly great value for money.

Honestly, the talks with my recruitment advisor kept me on a straight path, also the Shields group who provided the training courses, would give me a push if I didn’t log in for a while with the training platform. All in all, I felt part of a team that had the same goal as myself – to invest in me, which really empowered me to do well.

I am really enjoying my new role, don’t get me wrong, there is lots to learn, however, the Traineeship has given me the right foundations to be a positive attribute and valued team member in this field.
