Why did you start the Coding Traineeship?

When the pandemic hit, I left my old job as a Deckhand on superyachts to find a new career closer to home. IT Career Switch gave me all the tools I needed to effectively change careers whilst studying at my own pace.

What did you enjoy most?

I really enjoyed the coding projects, The project specifications really allowed me to imagine what my career as a developer would be like.

What's your current role like?

I am a software developer for a large global company called Sopra Banking Software. They are very welcoming and understanding that this is my first job as a developer and they help me with any issues I have. My days are spent learning and working on their systems, shadowing other developers and attending different meetings throughout the day to get a better understanding of the company and their operations. I am working from home the majority of the time, but looking forward to getting back into the office.
