Why did you start the traineeship?
I’d worked successfully in the charity sector for over a decade, but most jobs in my field were London based and I wanted to move back home to the North of England to raise my daughter. I’d had an interest in learning programming for a while and this course offered me the opportunity to switch careers without having to go back to university.
What did you enjoy most?
While the interactive coding lessons were essential to learning the basics, I enjoyed the two projects more. Doing the projects teaches you how everything you’ve learnt comes together to allow you to make almost anything.
What's your current role like?
After finishing the course I was in a position to choose between two job offers and I’m really glad I chose One Call. It’s a bigger team, which means there are lots of experienced developers to learn from. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help because they’ve all been there and know it’s a steep learning curve at the beginning.
