Why did you start the Coding Traineeship?

I started the traineeship because I had an interest in computer programming but knew nothing about the subject. I initially started out learning bits and pieces on YouTube and eventually stumbled onto the IT Career Switch “Coding Traineeship”. After taking a quick look, it seemed like a great way to learn the basics without having to go to university for 4 years. It definitely wasn’t easy but, looking back now as someone who is employed as a software engineer, I can definitely say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! It was well worth the time and effort and I have to give a huge thank you to IT Career Switch!

What did you enjoy most?

I would say the thing that I enjoyed the most about the traineeship was continuously learning new things. I realised while studying that I have a real passion for learning. You were constantly being presented with new concepts and I really loved how each time I was taught something new, you would start thinking about creative ways it might be used in the real world.

What's your current role like?

I love my current role! I really enjoy the work I’m doing and I’m part of a wonderful and supportive team. Even though I’m a “junior”, I am given work that allows me to both learn and grow while helping out the rest of the team. It’s the dream job I never even knew existed and I couldn’t be happier!
