William Nicholl moved into IT Administrator

Having tried previously to get into the IT industry on my own and struggling I knew I needed help if I was going to make it work. I looked at a lot of different options including self-study, local colleges and company apprenticeship schemes but what IT Career Switch was offering just seemed so unique and interesting, particularly the job guarantee. At first, I was a little wary of what was being offered, the level of training promised and the qualifications on offer, but after confirming directly with CompTIA UK that not only were they approved providers of the A+ course but were gold partners I knew they were the right people to help me out.

For me, the best part of the training was being able to work at my own pace. I did the course alongside a full-time job in retail, regularly working 50+ hours a week and I still managed to complete everything. All of the materials needed are presented in easy to follow videos and all slides from the videos are easily accessed on the learning portal to download and use as workbooks. Having quizzes and mini exams at the end of each section reinforced what you had learned and the end of course exam was harder than the CompTIA exam for the qualification so by the time I got that far the important exams were a breeze!

My new role is amazing, I’m part of a two-man team providing IT support for a medium-sized law firm in Belfast. Everything is handled in house with no off-site support in place so with 80 people to look after and all of the background infrastructure to go along with it there is never a dull day.
