Why did you start the traineeship?

I started the traineeship as I was looking to move into the IT industry after leaving the Military. I thought that the traineeship would provide me with all the necessary qualifications and experience to achieve this goal. I am very happy to report that the traineeship exceeded my expectations.

What did you enjoy most?

The thing I enjoyed most about the traineeship was passing my CompTIA A+ and hitting the job market. All the hard work and revision paid off very quickly. I was getting several calls from recruiters and prospective employers. In less than 3 weeks I attended several interviews, received 7 job offers and started work with a new company.

What's your current role like?

My new role is as an IT support engineer for a chemical supply company. I work as part of a small 3-person department. I spend a lot of time addressing a wide variety of 1st line issues in-house. I also have the opportunity to work on some larger projects with the rest of the team. I am hoping to take on some more security-focused roles once I have passed my CYSA and PenTest exams.
