Why did you start the traineeship?

I wanted to help people in my future line of work. I looked at many fields of work but after a good look, I found what I was looking for – a career in health and safety. I, therefore, decided to retrain by joining the IT Career Switch Health and Safety traineeship. Getting involved in the health and safety industry is more than just a job, it can help save lives and reduce the likelihood of injuries to workers.

What did you enjoy most?

I really enjoyed studying for my NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications. Shields was an excellent training provider. I enjoyed doing online studying when I wanted. I also really enjoyed working with IT Career Switch through the recruitment process, their support in this area was excellent.

What's your current role like?

My current role as a health & safety advisor is excellent. I am currently working in a power station in the health and safety team, we make sure the site and employees are kept safe. Every day is different. We also ensure every site is equipped with safety needs such as PPE, signs, first aid, etc. I foresee excellent career prospects and continued personal development in Health and Safety.
