Oisin Haywood moved into IT Support Technician

I had been mulling over a career change for a while when I came across the traineeship. The progression on offer really clicked with my goals and desire for continued learning whilst in a job. Having already had an interest in computers it seemed like a perfect fit for me to advance into a new industry.

For me the best part of the program has been the breadth of topics covered. As I worked my way through the different courses I have been constantly amazed at the speed at which my understanding grew from one to the next. The support throughout was of real use both during the courses and into the recruitment phase.

My new role is at a small managed service provider. At the moment I spend most of my days solving problems from a diverse array of customers on the helpdesk. However, I am also setting up new PCs, creating accounts for people and working with the rest of the team to solve more complex issues as well. The best part is still that there is never a day where I am not learning something new.
