Josh Cattermole's journey
Why did you start the traineeship?
I had spent 20 years as a bricklayer, working on construction sites. As I was getting older, I decided to take my career in a different direction and give my body a break from the tools. Going into H&S seemed like a natural progression.
What did you enjoy most?
The flexibility worked very well for me. I was able to study from home, in between parenting commitments and other work responsibilities that I also had.
What's your current role like?
My new job title is Construction Health and Safety Coordinator, so I feel like my experience in construction and my newly gained H&S qualifications will sit me in good stead for this role, as I start this new chapter.
