Why did you start the traineeship?
Initially, I started the Course because I wasn’t happy with my previous role as a Fire Alarm Engineer. But I was always interested in IT. But Cyber Security just grabbed my attention and there was a whole world of new things to learn!
What did you enjoy most?
The whole Journey has been a great one. The first 8 courses were a mission but once I had done them and got my certs, I was up and running. I took a few jobs though before I reached My CyberSec Role, but that was purely because I was too eager to reach where I wanted to be. My first IT role was in the education Sector, and I legit loved that job, It had a bit of everything, Support, Network Engineering, A/V specialist and so on. Then my Second IT Role, at BVI Medical was as a Global IT Analyst. This was a Blessing I tell you! I got the perks of everything from my last job, but I got to have a single place of work. Plus I also got to do a lot more work on Security. And in actuality, I believe the experience I gained from this Job, actually helped me get into where I am now. And now, as a Security Analyst, it feels surreal. This is what I’ve been working for, these past few years and now I’ve achieved it!
What's your current role like?
It’s different. I can’t say much due to the nature of the role but it’s great! A lot of the time, I’m sitting there feeling like a detective, and putting pieces of a puzzle together and honestly, that’s great! Sometimes, it’s intense when you know there is a breach, and you have to figure out everything and find out what’s going on.
