Why did you start the Coding Traineeship?

Ultimately I wanted to do work as a web developer, it is a dream I’ve had for a while, the traineeship provided an opportunity to “get my foot in the door” somewhere. Previously, I worked in office environments doing less challenging work and I was a truck driver for a while.

What did you enjoy most?

The course as a whole is highly engaging and mainly about problem solving which I love. The projects at the end of the traineeship were very interesting, opening my eyes to modern development techniques and giving me a shot at working on a very real project. I like how those projects could potentially be developed further into something else when I have more free time.

What's your current role like?

I am a junior developer at Sykes Cottages and I absolutely love it here. I mostly work from home but can go into the office whenever I want, to benefit from the office resources, though they provided me with everything I need to work from home. I am working with the company’s legacy code and am actively improving their live website. I work with the UX design team to make their designs come real. I am absolutely delighted with the traineeship provided by I.T. Career Switch and the service they provided me, they are a very helpful team who have helped me turn my life around and achieve a personal goal.
