Conor Taylor moved into 1st Line Engineer

I chose to start the Traineeship because I was ready for a real change in my career. I wanted to move into a field that offered long-term stability, growth, and opportunities to keep learning, and IT felt like the perfect fit. I’ve always been interested in technology, but I didn’t have a clear pathway to break into the industry. The Traineeship gave me a structured, accessible way to build the right skills and gain the confidence I needed to make the transition. It felt like the ideal first step toward a career with purpose and potential.

The part I enjoyed most was definitely the Live Labs. Being able to get hands-on and work through real scenarios made everything feel practical and relevant, it wasn’t just theory, it was genuine experience. On top of that, having a tutor I could turn to whenever I had questions made a huge difference. Their guidance helped me understand things more deeply and kept me moving forward, even when I hit challenging topics. The combination of interactive learning and personal support made the whole experience engaging, motivating, and genuinely enjoyable.

Right now, I’m working for a small but busy MSP that supports around 1,000 users across more than 50 businesses, and I absolutely love it. Because we’re a smaller team, I get exposure to a wide variety of tasks and technologies, which has really accelerated my learning. Every day brings something new, whether it’s troubleshooting issues, managing systems, or helping clients directly. It’s fast-paced, rewarding, and has given me a real sense of accomplishment. I can genuinely say the Traineeship prepared me well for this role, and it’s exciting to see how much progress I’ve made in such a short time.
