Mohammed Ateeq Surve IT Career Switch

Course: Cyber Security Traineeship
Placement Date: August 2024

Why did you start the Traineeship?
I was working as a Senior Sales professional back home in my country India but when I came to the UK it was difficult to get jobs at a similar level in sales. After trying for almost 1 year I got a couple low level sales jobs. It was very difficult keeping them due the pressure and expectations and I was finding it difficult due to no local experience. So I finally decided to restart my career in technology so that I can be relevant irrespective of my local experience. Also, the salary for starting a role in IT support is more than that of what I was being offered in sales. Hence I decided to look for IT traineeship programs and after consultation with an IT Career Switch executive, I was convinced to take a major step towards changing my career path.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
The freedom to choose my schedule for the course, course content and structure.
Prompt response from the support team especially Mark for helping land my 1st and then 2nd Job. I hope that continues for the rest of the traineeship.
What's your current role like?

I am working as an ICT Technician with East Midland Academy Trust which has 7 schools under its service. My role is to be the first line of support to the school staff and students for all IT and tech-related support.
