Why did you start the Traineeship?
I’ve always had a keen interest in IT and new technologies. I wanted to get into the field because the industry is always evolving and improving with the times, and the opportunities for continuous development are great. The IT Career Switch pathway looked like a great all round package to move away from engineering and get the grounding I needed to open up these opportunities.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I enjoyed all the in-depth courses provided, especially the content in the Security+ and Microsoft ones, and I enjoyed the way you’re tested as you go along with the course quizzes to make sure you’re picking it up. The Live Labs especially prepare you for the troubleshooting tasks you take on in a real job. Much of the Operating system management Live Labs I can transfer and use in my current role.
What's your current role like?
My new role at Valto Limited is great. Working as a 1st Line Engineer, I’m challenged daily with different troubleshooting requests from our clients. Being a Microsoft Solutions Partner, I’m able to draw on the Microsoft courses from the Traineeship to help me manage the operating systems and Azure AD portals of our clients. I’m excited to progress further as I grow in this role.
