Liam Simpson-McGill IT Career Switch

Course: Cyber Security Traineeship
Placement Date: October 2024

Why did you start the Traineeship?

I had just returned from my travels after spending two years in Asia and Oceania and was looking to kick start a new and exciting career. After doing some research I realized IT was the way to go as it is a job with an ever-growing demand. Whilst there were many IT programs and Traineeships out there, I opted for IT Career Switch because what they offered was heads and shoulders above the rest. Not only was it the best value for money on traineeships available, but they really wanted me to succeed. They provided excellent training material as well as my own personal tutor who helped me to achieve my CompTIA+ certificate.

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

It’s difficult to single out one particular part of the Traineeship because I enjoyed every aspect of it. As a whole, the course was very interactive and made you feel a part of the topics you would study, and whilst elements were challenging the satisfaction I got once I understood it made it all worthwhile.

What's your current role like?

My new job is IT Support Engineer, which is going well. I help manage and maintain the IT infrastructure of hundreds of venues across the Country which is a challenging but rewarding, and enjoyable role. I learn something new every day which is only diversifying and increasing my skillet.
