Course: Coding Traineeship
Placement Date: March 2021

Why did you start the Traineeship?

Throughout my degree and travels, I had dabbled in the basics of web development and started to build small personally apps and sites for friends and family. I loved the methodical and logical structure of programming more than my actual career and soon realised I’d be happier switching professions. Unfortunately, where I had taught myself I had some gaps in my knowledge and couldn’t guarantee what I knew was industry best practice or the up to date with the latest thinking. The Traineeship provided me with the best value for money and ensured I had a solid foundation to a reliable and expected standard as well as helping me land my new job.

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

For me, the most enjoyable part about the traineeship was the initial learning phase. I really enjoyed picking up new languages that I had no prior experience of and the way these are taught through Code Cademy is really helpful to get the most out of your understanding. The course separates the learning modules into chapters with interactive tasks, videos, projects and end of unit quizzes. In addition to this, the course is really flexible so you have the option to add additional modules or study some areas beyond what is required which is brilliant for playing around and learning which languages you prefer and what career in web development you may be interested in.

What's your current role like?
