Why did you start the Traineeship?
After spending over 15 years in retail and watching my monthly bills and spending gradually increase while my wage seemed to stay the same, I decided enough is enough and it was time to retrain in a sector that allows for progression. I did a little research and was shocked when I discovered how much money I could make in I.T and set myself a goal of becoming a cybersecurity analyst. 2 years later I’m now a Support Analyst with my goal in clear sight.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
At first, I felt like a fish out of water, but as I progressed further into the course and the terminology set in, I started to enjoy learning. I enjoyed using the live labs, it was a chance to turn all that knowledge I had just learned and apply it practically. Then that last adrenaline rush as the final exam is booked and the reward off friends and family after hearing I’d passed.
What's your current role like?
My new role is Support Analyst at a software company. I am currently working from home and have found the role really easy to fit into. It varies from logging tickets, troubleshooting to upgrading customer systems. I think it’s the perfect job to prepare me for my next role, as a cybersecurity analyst!
