Job Before: Music Teacher
Job Now: Field Support Engineer @ Oakford Technology Ltd
Why did you start the Traineeship?
I started my Traineeship a couple of months a lot of my family and friends were beginning to work from home. I was helping them set up their computers and get comfortable using all the technology that we were all having to get used to very quickly, and I found that I really enjoyed doing that, as well as upgrading old hardware and making good use of the old tech that was gathering dust in the cupboards. After searching for some courses to do I came across IT Career Switch and I jumped at the chance!
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I enjoyed constantly having that feeling of the wool being lifted from my eyes on so many different topics in computing, everything covered was fascinating to me and it has really helped me feel confident in my new job.
What's your current role like?
My current role is a Field Support Engineer, where I go round to clients (mostly schools) and help solve issues and educate. I’m very glad to have landed this role as every school has different equipment and I come across every type of mobile device, every management software, and in the school holidays, I’m helping build networks, deploy hundreds of computers, and getting stuck into every single aspect that the course has covered. There’s not a single thing that hasn’t been useful, even Windows 7 believe it or not!
