Why did you start the Traineeship?
I have always loved IT since I was a child but undertook other careers such as teaching. My career in teaching was not working out for me and when I saw the traineeship that IT Career Switch offered I snapped it up so that I could realise my childhood dream. I could have tried to switch to a career in IT on my own, but I felt that the traineeship provided a good structure to help me adjust from one career to another.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I really enjoyed learning about networking and security, as well as the opportunity to practise skills in the Live Lab environment. The traineeship has also confirmed for me that I really do want to pursue a career in cybersecurity and I am glad of the opportunities that it will avail me.
What's your current role like?
It’s absolutely amazing. The company I work for are so supportive and provide excellent training. I get to solve problems related to financial software at the front end and over time will write SQL code, as well as troubleshoot issues at the server backend. I am so pleased I made the change to IT.
