Why did you start the Traineeship?
I’ve done some research on what people usually do to get started walking down the path of cyber security. The Cyber Security Traineeship provides the basic certifications needed to get started, but most importantly, it skips the trouble of planning what materials to go through first since it’s already done for you. I think providing a structure that allows one to know exactly what they need to do next is the best way to keep them motivated to keep going.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I enjoyed the fact that it is online and accessible from anywhere. You could be going through material while walking on a treadmill at the gym or simply listening while taking a walk. There is also an in-built note-taking feature which makes it even more accessible, as no third-party applications are needed to make notes. There are also a ton of additional materials, such as flashcards for each module, which can be used to aid in learning. Additionally, the assistance received with the job searching process has made it extremely easy and convenient, suitable even if you’re currently working a different job.
What's your current role like?
Currently, I am working as a Junior IT Support Engineer, mainly providing support to the internal team of the company. So far, I’ve already been able to put into practice the skills learned in the Traineeship. I may not be a professional with every IT system, but the Traineeship has allowed me to become familiar with most of them (e.g Active Directory) through materials such as the LiveLabs, which delivered a hands-on experience, in turn this makes learning all the additional details much easier. Overall I’d say the role is pretty reflective of the scenarios I got prepared for in the Traineeship.
